NCAA Approves Sand Volleyball

The NCAA approved sand volleyball as the newest sport in college. It will begin in 2010 and will be for women only.

It will be known as sand volleyball instead of beach volleyball because many of the colleges will not be near a beach.

Beach volleyball is the fastest growing sport in the United States.

Implementing sand volleyball at universities will quickly bring in more fans than many people might think. Beach volleyball was among one of the highest viewed sports of the Olympics.

One problem with this new sport is that many, if not all, athletic directors don't understand that indoor volleyball and sand volleyball are completely different sports and they should NOT have the same coach for each sport.

If this sport is going to be any fun to watch it needs coaches that are qualified for the job.

Many hope that the NCAA will add sand volleyball for men in the near future, especially after the number of fans for the sport is higher than that of indoor volleyball.
